Ingredients
- (4 slices) Bread, Berry Nut Sourdough
- (2 large) Eggs
- (2-3 tablespoons) Milk
- Cinnamon
- Butter, Tallow, or Lard for frying
- Maple Syrup
Directions
First, slice that beautiful sourdough bread. Pictured is a gifted loaf of Harvest Bakery's cinnamon raisin bread for our wedding anniversary, but the berry nut bread is also an excellent choice! Of course, you can't go wrong with the Golden White and Multigrain either ;).

Melt a bit of butter, tallow, or lard in a skillet on medium heat, enough to coat the bottom of the skillet. You may want to turn the temperature down lower once the skillet is hot and the French toast is cooking.
Next break two eggs into a container large enough to soak the bread. Beat eggs, adding milk, then soak each slice of bread in the egg mixture. I like to flip the bread over to moisten both sides of the bread. You can add the cinnamon to the egg mixture as well, but I prefer to sprinkle the bread with cinnamon in the skillet so I can cook any leftover egg mixture as plain scrambled eggs.

Allow each slice of bread to brown a bit before flipping, then brown the other side and remove from skillet.

My favorite way to have French toast is with butter and maple syrup. How about you?
